Job Overview

We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Associate to join our dynamic legal team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing legal advice, counsel, and operational support across a wide range of business functions. This position requires a strong understanding of legal principles, exceptional analytical skills, and the ability to handle multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment. 

Key Responsibilities

Advisory & Counsel

  • Legal Research & Analysis: Conduct thorough legal research on various matters, including but not limited to regulatory changes, compliance issues, and industry-specific laws.
  • Contract Review & Drafting: Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of legal documents, including contracts, agreements, NDAs, and memoranda of understanding (MOUs).
  • Risk Assessment: Identify potential legal risks and provide proactive advice to mitigate them, ensuring the client company’s interests are protected.
  • Compliance & Regulatory Support: Assist in ensuring the client company adheres to relevant laws and regulations, including advising on changes in legal and regulatory environments.
  • Advisory Role: Provide legal advice to internal stakeholders on day-to-day legal issues, business transactions, and strategic initiatives.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with various departments, including HR, Finance, Compliance, and Operations, to provide integrated legal support.
  • External Coordination: Liaise with external counsel, regulatory authorities, and other third parties as needed to support legal matters.
  • Reporting: Prepare reports and presentations for client company’s senior management, summarizing legal issues, risk assessments, and recommendations.

Legal Operations

  • Document Management: Maintain and manage legal documentation, ensuring all records are up-to-date, organized, and accessible.
  • Process Improvement: Assist in developing and implementing processes and systems to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the client company’s legal department.
  • Legal Operations Support: Support the client company legal team in managing budgets, vendor relationships, and other operational tasks to optimize departmental performance.
  • Training & Education: Assist in developing training materials and conducting sessions to educate client company’s employees on legal and compliance matters.
  • Project Management: Lead and support legal projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within scope.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with various departments, including HR, Finance, Compliance, and Operations, to provide integrated legal support.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) required; advanced legal degree (LLM or equivalent) preferred.
  • Experience: 2-5 years of experience in a legal role, preferably in a corporate or in-house legal department.
Skills
  • Strong knowledge of corporate law, contract law, employment law, real estate law and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Dutch and English.
  • Ability to analyze complex legal issues and provide clear, actionable advice.
  • Proficiency in legal research tools and software.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience in legal operations, including process improvement and project management, is a plus.
